สำนักพิพิธภัณฑ์และวัฒนธรมการเกษตร ม

สำนักพิพิธภัณฑ์และวัฒนธรมการเกษตร มหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์ ได้รับการประกาศจัดตั้งเป็นทางการเมื่อวันที่ 31 สิงหาคม พ.ศ.2536 เพื่อทำหน้าที่หลัก 2 ประการ ได้แก่ ให้บริการทางวิชาการแก่สังคมในเรื่องของวิวัฒนาการและวัฒนธรรมการเกษตร กับ ทำนุบำรุงศิลปวัฒนธรรม
สำนักพิพิธภัณฑ์และวัฒนธรรมการเกษตรอยู่ในระหว่างดำเนินการจัดพิพิธภัณฑ์ เพื่อแสดงวิถีชีวิตของคนไทยในสังคมเกษตรกรรม ตั้งแต่อดีตกาลมาจนถึงปัจจุบัน ในระหว่างการเตรียมการ สำนักพิพิธภัณฑ์ฯ ได้จัดนิทรรศการหมุนเวียนในหัวข้อต่าง ๆ เป็นระยะ ๆ ที่ชั้นล่างอาคารสำนักงานและนิทรรศการ มีศูนย์ข้อมูลให้บริการตอบคำถาม สืบค้นเรื่องราวเนื่องด้วยประวัติและวัฒนธรรมการเกษตร และมีห้องโถงสำหรับจัดนิทรรศการชั่วคราว นอกจากนี้ สำนักพิพิธภัณฑ์ฯ จัดโครงการ/กิจกรรมทำนุบำรุงศิลปวัฒนธรรมอย่างสม่ำเสมอ อาทิเช่น การแสดงทุกรูปแบบ การจัดพิมพ์บัตรอวยพร และการท่องเที่ยวเชิงอนุรักษ์ในชื่อว่า "วัฒนธรรมสัญจร"
1. เพื่อเป็นแหล่งกลางในการสะสม รวบรวมรักษาและจัดแสดงอุปกรณ์ทางการเกษตร พืช สัตว์ วัตถุทางธรรมชาติ และสิ่งประดิษฐ์เกี่ยวกับการเกษตรของชาติ รวมทั้งการจัดแสดงถึงวัฒนธรรมและชีวิตความเป็นอยู่ของคนไทยที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการเกษตร อันจะแสดงถึงเอกลักษณ์ของชาติไทย
2. เพื่อเป็นศูนย์การศึกษาและวิจัยเกี่ยวกับประวัติศาสตร์การเกษตร วิวัฒนาการทางการเกษตร บุคคลสำคัญทางการเกษตร และเทคโนโลยีการเกษตรของประเทศไทย รวมทั้งเป็นแหล่งรวบรวมเอกสาร หลักฐานข้อมูลต่างๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้องเพื่อประโยชน์ในการค้นคว้า วิจัย รวมทั้งให้บริการทางวิชาการแก่หน่วยงานในภาครัฐและเอกชน ตลอดจนประชาชนทั่วไป
3. เพื่อเป็นศูนย์กลางในการส่งเสริมให้มีการค้นคว้าวิจัยเกี่ยวกับความเชื่อ ค่านิยม แนวคิด และภูมิปัญญาชาวบ้าน อันเป็นรากฐานของวัฒนธรรมในการดำเนินชีวิตของเกษตรกรและประชาชนคนไทยทั้งมวล
4. เพื่อเป็นศูนย์กลางในการส่งเสริมให้มีการค้นคว้า วิจัย เผยแพร่ อนุรักษ์ศิลปวัฒนธรรม ขนบธรรมเนียมประเพณีที่สำคัญของท้องถิ่นและของชาติ ตลอดจนการแลกเปลี่ยนศิลปวัฒนธรรมภายในประเทศและระหว่างประเทศ อันจะทำให้เกิดความเข้าใจและมองเห็นภาพลักษณ์ของวัฒนธรรมพื้นบ้าน วัฒนธรรมท้องถิ่นของคนไทย อีกทั้งได้เห็นความหลากหลายและเห็นคุณค่าทางวัฒนธรรมและอารยธรรม
5. เพื่อเป็นแหล่งปฏิบัติการการดำเนินกิจกรรมทางศิลปวัฒนธรรม ตลอดจนสนับสนุนการเรียน การสอน การวิจัย ในการศึกษาวิชาการทางศิลปวัฒนธรรม ทั้งในระดับปริญญาตรี และระดับบัณฑิตศึกษา
6. เพื่อสนับสนุนการอนุรักษ์ ฟื้นฟู เผยแพร่ศิลปวัฒนธรรมของชาติทุกสาขา
