ประวัติ
อำเภอบุณฑริกก่อนยกฐานะเป็นกิ่งอำเภอ เป็นชุมชนเล็ก ๆ เรียกว่า เมืองบัว อยู่ที่ตำบลนาจะหลวย ขึ้นกับอำเภอเดชอุดม โดยมีพระอภัยเป็นเจ้าเมืองปกครอง เมื่อพระอภัยถึงแก่อนิจกรรม ได้แต่งตั้งให้นายใสเป็นเจ้าเมือง ได้เลื่อนบรรดาศักดิ์เป็น "หลวงบุณฑริกเขตตานุรักษ์" ราวปี พ.ศ. 2402 หลวงบุณฑริกฯ จึงได้ย้ายเมืองไปอยู่ที่บ้านโนนสูง และยังเรียกว่าเมืองบัว ต่อมาได้เปลี่ยนแปลงฐานะเป็น กิ่งอำเภอบุณฑริก เมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2466 มีขุนจิตต์ประศาสตร์ (พุ่ม วนิกุล) เป็นปลัดกิ่ง และได้ย้ายที่ตั้งอำเภอมาอยู่ที่บ้านโพนงาม ฝั่งตะวันออกของลำโดมน้อย จึงเปลี่ยนชื่อเป็น กิ่งอำเภอโพนงาม ภายหลังกลับมาใช้ชื่อกิ่งอำเภอบุณฑริกอีกครั้ง จนกระทั่งปี พ.ศ. 2502 จึงได้ยกฐานะขึ้นเป็น อำเภอบุณฑริก
