ประโยชน์ของการศึกษาประวัติศาสตร์
การศึกษาประวัติศาสตร์มีประโยชน์ต่อผู้ศึกษาดังนี้

๑. ก่อให้เกิดความรักความภาคภูมิใจในชาติบ้านเมืองของตน คือทำให้เรารู้ถึงความเสียสละของบรรพบุรุษที่ได้สร้างบ้านเมืองมา รักชาติบ้านเมืองไว้ด้วยชีวิต สร้างสมวัฒนธรรมอันดีงามมาสู่รุ่นลูกหลานจึงก่อให้เกิดความภูมิใจ รักหวงแหนมรดกที่บรรพบุรุษทิ้งไว้ ต้องการที่จะอนุรักษ์และสืบสานสิ่งที่ดีงามไปยังคนรุ่นลูกรุ่นหลานของเราต่อไป

๒. ทำให้เข้าใจทัศนคติของผู้อื่น การศึกษาประวัติศาสตร์ช่วยให้เราเข้าใจความคิดความรู้สึกของคนในสังคมต่างๆ และในเวลาต่าง ๆ กัน

๓. ทำให้ได้บทเรียนจากประวัติศาสตร์ เหตุการณ์หรือพฤติกรรมของมนุษย์ในอดีตย่อมมีทั้งด้านดีและด้านร้าย พฤติกรรมใดที่นำความเสียหายมาสู่สังคมส่วนรวมในอดีต ซึ่งอาจส่งผลร้ายมาสู่ปัจจุบันและเชื่อมโยงไปถึงอนาคตด้วย เราก็จำไว้เป็นบทเรียน ไม่สร้างความเสื่อมเสียเช่นนั้นอีก เหตุการณ์หรือพฤติกรรมในทางดี เราก็นำมาเป็นแบบอย่างในการประพฤติปฏิบัติ

๔. ทำให้เราเข้าใจในปัจจุบันชัดเจนขึ้น การเรียนรู้ว่าชาติหรือประเทศของเรานั้นมีที่มาจากไหน มีพัฒนาการมาอย่างไร มีวัฒนธรรมดั้งเดิมเป็นอย่างไร และเปลี่ยนแปลงไปเพราะอะไร ซึ่งจะทำให้เรารู้จักตัวเองและเข้าใจสังคมปัจจุบันได้ดียิ่งขึ้น

๕. ทำให้ได้ฝึกทักษะที่จำเป็น ฝึกทักษะที่เป็นประโยชน์ซึ่งนำมาใช้ในการเรียนวิชาอื่นและนำไปใช้ในชีวิตประจำวันได้ เช่นทักษะการค้นคว้าข้อมูล ทักษะการแสดงความคิดเห็น ทักษะการเขียนรายงานการค้นคว้าด้วยตนเองเป็นต้น
