ในมุมมองของอิสลาม ถือว่าการดูแลรักษาสุขภาพนั้นเป็นหน้าที่สำหรับมนุษย์ เพราะสุขภาพที่แข็งแรงสมบูรณ์ดี เป็นความโปรดปรานที่อัลลอฮฺ ทรงประทานให้แก่มนุษย์ ดังที่ท่านนบีมุฮัมหมัด กล่าวว่า
