ทำให้แยกเขตเทศบาลออกเป็น 2 ฝั่งคือ
1. ฝั่งทิศตะวันออกมีพื้นที่ 13.05 ตารางกิโลเมตร มีประชาชนหนาแน่น
เพราะเป็นย่านธุรกิจการค้าการบริการ การสื่อสาร และการขนส่ง

2. ฝั่งทิศตะวันตก มีพื้นที่ 5.21 ตารางกิโลเมตร เป็นที่ตั้งของสถานที่ราชการและสถานที่ศึกษา
เช่น ศาลากลางจังหวัด ศาล ค่ายทหาร วิทยาลัยครู และโรงเรียนประจำจังหวัดเป็นต้น
