จากความหมายดังกล่าว สรุปได้ว่าการเรียนแบบกลุ่มร่วมมือเป็นวิธีการจัดการเรียนการสอนอีกรูปแบบหนึ่งที่เน้นผู้เรียนเป็นสำคัญ โดยให้นักเรียนลงมือปฏิบัติงานเป็นกลุ่มย่อย ๆ เพื่อเสริมสร้างสมรรถภาพการเรียนรู้ของนักเรียนแต่ละคน และสนับสนุนให้มีการช่วยเหลือซึ่งกันและกัน
