ส่วนชาวญวนนั้น สาเหตุมีมาตั้งแต่ชาวผู้ไทยยังอยู่ที่ถิ่นเดิม คือ เมือง น้ำน้อย อ้อยหนู หรือแถน ถูกพวกญวนรังแก ชาวผู้ไทยจึงไม่กล้าคบค้าสมาคมกับพวกญวน และไม่ค้าขายด้วย เมื่อชาวผู้ไทยมาอยู่ที่เรณูนครแล้ว เมื่อ พ.ศ.๒๔๙๐ มีคนญวนอพยพไปตั้งหลักแหล่งที่เรณูนคร คนญวนไปแย่งกิจการค้า การทำมาหากินของคนผู้ไทยในเรณูนคร จึงพากันขับไล่ พวกญวนทนไม่ได้ต้องอพยพไปอยู่ที่ตัวจังหวัดนครพนม
