ปี พ.ศ.2558 ประเทศไทยในฐานะเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของอาเซียนจะก้าวสู่ประชาคมเศรษฐกิจอาเซียน เราควรเตรียมความพร้อมโดยใช้การสื่อสารภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อก้าวสู่ประชาคมเศรษฐกิจอาเซียนอย่างไรบ้าง
เนื่องจากอาเซียนประกอบไปด้วยสมาชิกจำนวน 10 ประเทศ ประเทศไทยจึงจำเป็นต้องสร้างความรู้ความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับประเทศเพื่อบ้านในอาเซียน เนื่องจากแต่ละประเทศในอาเซียนมีความแตกต่างกันในหลาย ๆ ด้าน เช่น ภาษา ศาสนา วัฒนธรรม จึงต้องมีการศึกษาเพื่อสร้างความเข้าใจ จะทำให้เกิดความเข้าใจในความแตกต่างทางวัฒนธรรมและสามารถสร้างลักษณะร่วมทางวัฒนธรรมที่มีความคล้ายคลึงกันได้ โดยวิธีการ คือ
1. จัดการเรียนการสอนเกี่ยวกับประเทศเพื่อนบ้าน โดยเน้นการยอมรับในความแตกต่างว่าต่อไปนี้ประเทศเพื่อนบ้านจะเป็นประเทศในกลุ่มเดียวกัน
2. ปรับวิธีการสอนในวิชาประวัติศาสตร์ ในกรณีความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศเพื่อนบ้านที่เคยมีปัญหาในการต่อสู้กันในอดีต โดยจุดประสงค์เพื่อป้องกันไม่ไม่ให้เกิดความขัดแย้งอย่างเช่นที่เคยเกิดมาในอดีต และจะไม่ใช่การเรียนรู้เพื่อพิสูจน์ว่าฝ่ายใดถูกหรือผิด
3.จัดให้มีการอบรมภาษาอังกฤษให้แก่ข้าราชการทุกระดับชั้น โดยต้องคำนึงว่ากลุ่มนี้ในแต่ละระดับชั้นมีความรู้พื้นฐานด้านภาษาอังกฤษที่แตกต่างกัน สำหรับกลุ่มที่ไม่มีพื้นฐานมากต้องปูพื้นฐานจนมีความสามารถที่จะสื่อสารได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ โดยจัดกิจกรรมให้ข้าราชการสามารถสื่อสารได้จริง
