การวิจัยนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาปัญหาและอุปสรรคการพัฒนาศักยภาพจิตอาสานำธรรมะสู่ผู้ป่วยของพระนิสิตจิตอาสานำธรรมะสู่ผู้ป่วยตามแนววิถีพุทธวิทยาลัยสงฆ์นครลำปาง 2) เพื่อหารูปแบบกระบวนการพัฒนาศักยภาพจิตอาสานำธรรมะสู่ผู้ป่วยตามแนววิถีพุทธของพระนิสิตวิทยาลัยสงฆ์นครลำปาง การวิจัยนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative Research) ใช้โดยใช้การจัดกลุ่มสนทนาประเด็นเฉพาะ (Focus group) ใช้แบบสัมภาษณ์แบบมีโครงสร้าง (Structure Interview) ในการสนทนา สรุปผลการวิจัย พบว่า ปัญหา อุปสรรคที่พบในการจัดโครงการฯ ประกอบด้วย ปัญหาด้านบุคลากร ปัญหาด้านเวลา ปัญหาด้านสถานที่ และปัญหาด้านกิจกรรม ในส่วนของกระบวนการพัฒนาศักยภาพจิตอาสานำธรรมะสู่ผู้ป่วยตามแนววิถีพุทธนั้น สิ่งแรกต้องพัฒนาในเรื่องของการศึกษา/เรียนรู้ เกี่ยวกับการปลูกฝังค่านิยมและทัศนคติ การเข้าใจและการใช้ปัญญา และต้องฝึกอบรมให้แก่พระนิสิตอย่างต่อเนื่องและสม่ำเสมอ โดยการอบรมเรื่องหลักธรรมที่จะเตรียมพร้อมไปเยี่ยมผู้ป่วย อบรมเรื่องมารยาทในการพบปะผู้ป่วยในระยะต่างๆ ฯลฯ และฝึกฝนพระนิสิตให้คุ้นเคยกับเทคโนโลยี/เทคนิค/วิทยาการสมัยใหม่ที่จะประยุกต์ใช้ให้เกิดความก้าวหน้าของโครงการ ทางวิทยาลัยสงฆ์นครลำปางต้องเตรียมความพร้อมก่อนที่จะส่งตัวพระนิสิตออกไปจัดทำโครงการ ตลอดจนมหาวิทยาลัยสงฆ์นครลำปางภายใต้โครงการจิตอาสานำธรรมะสู่ผู้ป่วยตามแนววิถีพุทธ ต้องมีส่วนร่วมการค้นหาปัญหาการวางแผน การนำโครงการไปฏิบัติ และการประเมินผล ต้นน้ำ กลางน้ำ ปลายน้ำ ของโครงการร่วมกับทางโรงพยาบาล และหน่วยงานอิสระหรือองค์กรการกุศล เพื่อช่วยเหลือให้โครงการเกิดการพัฒนาได้อย่างยั่งยืน
