To perfect the abalone, Ah Yat invested a whopping sum of more than 100,000 Hong Kong dollars, which was sufficient to buy a flat at that time, just to purchase dried abalone for the experiment. Finally, in the early 8O's, the "Ah Yat Style" abalone was created.
