บุคคลที่เรารำลึกถึงด้วยสำนึกในพระคุณของท่าน มิสเอ็ดน่า เอส. โคล ผู้มีประวัติอันสวยงาม บางครั้งอ่านแล้วเกือบจะเคลิ้มไปว่าเป็นเทพนิยายหรือตำนานของหญิงผู้หนึ่งที่มาจากสหรัฐอเมริกา ทำงานและสร้างสรรค์สิ่งดีงาม อันเป็นคุณาประโยชน์แก่ชีวิตของหญิงไทยมากมาย และเป็นการยกระดับเกียรติและศักดิ์ศรีของสตรี ให้สตรีที่ในยุคนั้นสมัยนั้นที่ไม่มีโอกาส ได้รับการศึกษาและใช้ชีวิตให้เป็นประโยชน์แก่ประเทศชาติ ท่านเป็นผู้เปิดฉากประวัติการศึกษาของหญิงในแผ่นดินไทย และเมื่อถึงเวลาที่ต้องกลับ ท่านก็ต้องออกจากประเทศไทยไป โดยไม่ได้กลับมาอีกเลย
แหม่มโคลได้ฝากอนุสรณ์ทั้งที่แลเห็นได้และแลไม่เห็น สำหรับพวกเราชนรุ่นหลัง นอกจากลูกศิษย์ลูกหาที่กลายเป็นครูในโรงเรียนของราชการ และเอกชนเกือบทุกแห่งที่เกิดขึ้นในสมัยนั้นแล้ว เหนือสิ่งใดหมด ท่านเป็นผู้ดำเนินชีวิตตามแบบอย่างของพระเยซูคริสต์ คือ การรับใช้และบริการโดยไม่หวังสิ่งตอบแทน ลูกศิษย์ของท่านจึงจำคำที่ว่า “การให้เป็นเหตุให้เกิดความสุขยิ่งกว่าการรับ” ได้ดี นอกจากคุณธรรมและจริยธรรม ซึ่งเป็นคุณภาพและคุณสมบัติที่ถ่ายทอดให้แก่ผู้หญิงไทยมากมายแล้ว อนุสรณ์ที่ท่านฝากไว้และแลเห็นได้นั้น ก็คือสถาบันถึง 5 แห่ง แต่ละแห่งและทุกแห่ง ท่านมีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องด้วย จนอาจกล่าวได้ว่า ถ้าไม่มีแหม่มโคลแล้วสถาบันทั้ง 5 นี้ก็ไม่สามารถจะเกิดขึ้น และคงจะไม่ยั่งยืนอยู่ได้จนถึงทุกวันนี้ เราจะได้เรียนรู้และศึกษาเรื่องราวความเป็นมาของสถาบันทั้ง 5 นั้นในบทต่อไป (จะคัดลอกมาเฉพาะส่วนเกี่ยวข้องกับโรงเรียนวัฒนาเท่านั้น)
