ต่อมาเมื่อวันที่ 14 มีนาคม พ.ศ. 2549 อุทยานแห่งชาติแม่ฝางได้รับการเปลี่ยนชื่อเป็น “อุทยานแห่งชาติดอยผ้าห่มปก” เพื่อให้สอดคล้องกับชื่อของ “ดอยผ้าห่มปก” ซึ่งเป็นแหล่งท่องเที่ยวที่มีความสำคัญและโดดเด่นของอุทยานฯ และเมื่อวันที่ 26 กันยายน 2551 ได้เปลี่ยนชื่ออีกครั้งเป็น “อุทยานแห่งชาติดอยฟ้าห่มปก” จนถึงปัจจุบัน
