Colony forming unit เรียกย่อว่า cfu เป็นหน่วยที่ได้จากวิธีตรวจนับปริมาณจุลินทรีย์ (microbial population count) เช่น แบคทีเรีย ยีสต์ หรือ รา ที่มีชีวิต ซึ่งเจริญขึ้นมาบนผิวหน้าของอาหารแข็งในจานเลี้ยงเชื้อ โดยเจริญและแบ่งตัวจนเป็นกลุ่มเรียกว่า โคโลนี (colony)
