สังคมของไทยในสมัยรัตนโกสินทร์ มีการแบ่งชนชั้นออกเป็น 4 ประเภทคือ

4. ทาส มีอยู่ 7 ประเภทดังนี้

4.3 ทาสได้มาแต่บิดามารดา คือ ลูกทาสที่ได้จากพ่อหรือแม่ของเด็กที่เป็นทาส
4.4 ทาสท่านให้ คือ ทาสที่เดิมเป็นของผู้หนึ่งแล้วถูกยกให้เป็นกรรมสิทธิ์ของอีกผู้หนึ่ง
