สิทธิมนุษยชน (Human Right) หมายถึง

สิทธิมนุษยชน (Human Right) หมายถึง สิทธิที่มนุษย์ทุกคนมีความเท่าเทียมกัน มีศักดิ์ศรีของความเป็นมนุษย์ สิทธิ เสรีภาพ และความเสมอภาคของบุคคลที่ได้รับการรับรอง ทั้งความคิดและการกระทำที่ไม่มีการล่วงละเมิดได้ โดยได้รับการ คุ้มครองตามรัฐธรรมนูญแห่งราชอาณาจักรไทย และสนธิสัญญาระหว่างประเทศ

1. ศักดิ์ศรีความเป็นมนุษย์ (Human Dignity) หมายถึง คุณสมบัติ จิตใจ รักษาไว้มิให้บุคคลอื่นมาล่วงละเมิดได้
2. สาเหตุที่มนุษย์ต้องได้รับความคุ้มครองสิทธิมนุษยชน เกิดจาก มนุษย์ทุกคนเกิดมาแล้วย่อมมีสิทธิในตัวเอง

3. หลักการสำคัญที่สุดของสิทธิมนุษยชน คือ มนุษย์ทุกคนมีศักดิ์ศรีของความเป็นมนุษย์เท่าเทียมกัน
4. การคุ้มครองสิทธิมนุษยชนในประเทศไทย สังคมไทยเป็นสังคมที่ต่างเชื้อชาติ ศาสนา เผ่าพันธุ์


องค์กรที่เกี่ยวข้องกับสิทธิมนุษยชนในประเทศไทย มีดังนี้

องค์กรสิทธิมนุษยชน ระดับโลก

1. คณะกรรมการสิทธิมนุษยชนแห่งสหประชาชาติ 2. กองทุนสงเคราะห์เด็กแห่งสหประชาชาติ หรือ ยูนิเซฟ (UNICEF)

ศาลในปัจจุบันจึงมีบทบาทในการให้ความยุติธรรมในด้านสิทธิมนุษยชน เช่น

1. การคุ้มครองผู้เสียหายตามกฎหมาย

2. สิทธิของพยานในคดีอาญาที่จะได้รับการคุ้มครองและปฏิบัติที่เหมาะสม

3. ข้อสันนิษฐานไว้ก่อนว่าผู้ถูกกล่าวหาในคดีอาญาไม่มีความผิด

4. การจัดและคุมขังบุคคลใด ๆ ในคดีอาญาจะกระทำได้ก็ต่อเมื่อมีคำสั่งหรือหมายศาล ยกเว้นการกระทำผิดซึ่งหน้า

5. สิทธิของผู้ต้องหาในการให้ทนายความหรือผู้ซึ่งตนไว้วางใจเข้าฟังการสอบปากคำตนได้
