ในงานวิจัยนี้ได้นำเสนอการศึกษาเปรียบเทียบการจำแนกประเภทข้อมูลโดยใช้เทคนิคต้นไม้ตัดสินใจ (Decision Trees) และ เทคนิคการจำแนกกฎ (Rules-based Classifier) ภายใต้หลักการทำงานของเหมืองข้อมูลโดยใช้ชุดข้อมูลมาตรฐานจาก UCI Machine Learning Repository จำนวน 5 ชุดข้อมูล และทำการเลือกชุดข้อมูลที่มีแอตทริบิวต์ชนิดของข้อมูลแบ่งออกเป็นคลาส มาเปรียบเทียบประสิทธิภาพในการจำแนกประเภทข้อมูล โดยใช้ J48 และ JRip มาทำการทดลองวัดประสิทธิภาพความถูกต้องมาเปรียบเทียบกัน ซึ่งผลการทดลองจากจำนวนชุดข้อมูลทดลอง 5 ชุด ผลการวิจัยพบว่า การทดลองโดยใช้เทคนิคตัวจำแนกกฎ (Rules-based Classifier หรือ RIPPER) ของอัลกอริทึม JRip มีประสิทธิภาพความถูกต้องที่ดีกว่าเฉลี่ยอยู่ที่ 89.77 เมื่อเทียบเทคนิคต้นไม้ตัดสินใจ (Decision Trees) ของอัลกอริทึม J48 มีประสิทธิภาพความถูกต้องเฉลี่ยอยู่ที่ 84.33
