ประกาศปิดถนน ก่อสร้างวงเวียนสะพานขาว มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่นจะปิดถนนเป็นการชั่วคราว ตั้งแต่ 30 กรกฎาคม – 9 พฤศจิกายน 2556 เพื่อก่อสร้างวงเวียนสี่แยกสะพานขาว หวังลดอุบัติเหตุ สร้างความอุ่นใจ เพิ่มความมั่นใจในความปลอดภัยของทุกคนในมข. มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่นจะดำเนินโครงการทำการก่อสร้างวงเวียนสี่แยกสะพาน ออกแบบโดยอาจารย์ในมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ซึ่งมีความห่วงใยในความปลอดภัยของนักศึกษา บุคลากรเป็นที่ตั้ง เพื่อปรับปรุงระบบปัญหาการจราจร มุ่งมั่นแก้ไขปัญหาการเกิดอุบัติเหตุให้ลดลง และลดความรุนแรงของอุบัติเหตุ เนื่องจากเป็นจุดที่เกิดอุบัติเหตุขึ้นบ่อยครั้งและเคยเกิดการสูญเสียชีวิตขึ้น ให้เกิดความไม่ปลอดภัยในชีวิตและทรัพย์สินของนักศึกษา บุคลากร ผู้ใช้รถใช้ถนนภายในมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น มหาวิทยาลัยมีแนวคิดในการแก้ไขปัญหา เพื่อลดการเกิดอุบัติเหตุอันอาจจะเกิดขึ้น จุดที่จะปิดถนนได้แก่ คณะเทคโนโลยีก่อนถึงสี่แยกสะพานขาว คณะวิศวกรรมเครื่องกลก่อนถึงสี่แยกสะพานขาว และถนนเส้นสะพานขาวตั้งแต่สามแยกสำนักงานอธิการบดีจนถึงสะพานขาว
