ประเทศพม่าแบ่งเขตการปกครองในระดับภูมิภาคออกเป็น 7 ภูมิภาค (region) สำหรับพื้นที่ซึ่งประชากรส่วนใหญ่เป็นกลุ่มชาติพันธุ์พม่า และ 7 รัฐ (states) สำหรับพื้นที่ซึ่งประชากรส่วนใหญ่เป็นชนกลุ่มน้อย
