ท่านได้บรรพชาเป็นสามเณรเมื่อวันที่ 15 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2463 และอุปสมบทเป็นพระภิกษุ เมื่อวันที่ 21 เมษายน พ.ศ.2469 ณ อุโบสถวัดพิกุลทอง ต่อมาได้รับการแต่งตั้งเป็นเจ้าอาวาสวัดพิกุลทองรูปที่ 5 เมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2473 เป็นต้นมา ท่านได้ใช้สติปัญญาความสามารถ พัฒนาวัดให้เจริญทั้งทางด้านวัตถุสิ่งก่อสร้าง ด้านการศึกษาพระปริยัติธรรมแด่พระภิกษุสามเณร และเผยแผ่ธรรมปฏิบัติแก่ญาติโยมทั่วไป พัฒนาทั้งภายในวัดและสาธารณประโยชน์ให้เจริญยิ่งขึ้นโดยเฉพาะโรงพยาบาลสิงห์บุรี ซึ่งเป็นที่ประจักษ์แก่ประชาชนทั่วไป พ.ศ. 2525 ได้รับการแต่งตั้งเป็นเจ้าคณะจังหวัดสิงห์บุรี พ.ศ. 2539 ได้รับการเลื่อนสมณศักดิ์ เป็นพระราชาคณะชั้นธรรม ที่พระธรรมมุนี
 ท่านได้มรณภาพเมื่อวันที่ 10 กุมภาพันธ์ พ.ศ. 2542 ณ โรงพยาบาลสิงห์บุรี สิริรวมอายุได้ 94 ปี 72 พรรษา
