สภาแห่งชาติชุดใหม่ได้เปิดประชุมเมื่อ 19 กรกฎาคม พ.ศ. 2545 โดยสภาได้มีมติสำคัญๆ คือ

รับรองผลการเลือกตั้งเมื่อ 19 พฤษภาคม
เลือกตั้งคณะกรรมการต่าง ๆ ประจำสภา
การเลือกตั้งให้นายเหวียน วัน อาน ดำรงตำแหน่งประธานสภาต่อไป (เมื่อ 23 กรกฎาคม)
การเลือกตั้งให้นายเจิ่น ดึ๊ก เลือง ดำรงตำแหน่งประธานาธิบดีต่อไป (เมื่อ 24 กรกฎาคม) และ
เลือกตั้งให้นายฟาน วัน ขาย ดำรงตำแหน่งนายกรัฐมนตรีต่อไป (เมื่อ 25 กรกฎาคม) และได้มีการปรับคณะรัฐมนตรีเมื่อ 8 สิงหาคม 2545 โดยในคณะรัฐมนตรีชุดใหม่ 26 คน มีรัฐมนตรีที่ได้รับแต่งตั้งใหม่ 15 คน
