โครงการไทยศึกษา (Thai Study Program) ในสหรัฐฯ
กระทรวงการต่างประเทศ โดยการประสานกับ สอท. ณ กรุงวอชิงตัน ได้ริเริ่มโครงการไทยศึกษา ขึ้นเมื่อปี 2548 โดยสนับสนุนงบประมาณในลักษณะ seed money ในช่วงแรกประมาณ 3 ปี แก่ มหาวิทยาลัย และมหาวิทยาลัยจะต้องสามารถดำเนินโครงการต่อไปเองได้
วัตถุประสงค์
1) เพื่อส่งเสริมความสัมพันธ์ไทย-สหรัฐฯ
2) เพื่อส่งเสริมความสัมพันธ์กับสถาบันการศึกษาของสหรัฐฯ และสร้างเครือข่ายเชื่อมโยงทั้งระดับ สถาบัน – สถาบัน และนักศึกษา–นักศึกษา รวมทั้งการพัฒนาองค์ความรู้ให้แก่ภาคต่างๆ ของไทย
3) เพื่อกำหนดสถานะของประเทศไทยในสหรัฐฯ ให้เป็นประเทศที่มีศักยภาพที่จะมีบทบาทนำใน ด้านความคิดในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้
4) เพื่อสนับสนุนหลักสูตรวิชาเกี่ยวกับประเทศไทยและภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ที่ มหาวิทยาลัยต่างๆ เปิดสอน
5) แต่ละมหาวิทยาลัยได้แสวงหาลู่ทางความร่วมมือ และการแลกเปลี่ยนทางวิชาการ กับมหาวิทยาลัยของไทย
