วัตถุประสงค์การวิจัยเพื่อศึกษา 1) ลักษณะประชากรของผู้ใช้ 2) พฤติกรรมการใช้ 3) เทคโนโลยีและลักษณะของคอมพิวเตอร์พกพา และ 4) ประโยชน์จากการใช้โปรแกรมประยุกต์บนคอมพิวเตอร์พกพา
ตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัยได้แก่ ประชาชนในเขตลาดกระบัง เขตมีนบุรี เขตดอนเมือง เขตประเวศ และเขตบางกระปิ กรุงเทพมหานคร จำนวน 400 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลครั้งนี้ ได้แก่แบบสอบถาม สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ การแจกแจงความถี่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน สถิติ t test การวิเคราะห์ค่าความแปรปรวนจำแนกทางเดียว (one-way analysis of variance--ANOVA) และเปรียบเทียบเชิงซ้อนรายคู่ (multiple comparison) โดยวิธีการสถิติ LSD
ผลการวิจัย พบว่ากลุ่มตัวอย่างส่วนใหญ่เป็นเพศหญิง ผู้ใช้ส่วนใหญ่มีอายุระหว่าง 31-35 ปี อาชีพพนักงานบริษัทเอกชนใช้มากที่สุด ผู้ใช้ส่วนใหญ่มีระดับการศึกษามัธยมศึกษาขึ้นไป และผู้มีรายได้ต่อเดือน ระหว่าง 25,001-30,000 บาท ใช้มากที่สุด

พฤติกรรมการใช้ ส่วนใหญ่ใช้โปรแกรมประยุกต์บนคอมพิวเตอร์พกพาทุกวัน โดยใช้วันละ 1-2 ครั้ง ส่วนใหญ่ใช้ในช่วงเวลา 12.01-18.00 น. ในสถานที่ทำงาน และ ใช้โปรแกรมประยุกต์เครือข่ายสังคมมากที่สุด
