การค้นคว้าอิสระนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษาแรงจูงใจของนักท่องเที่ยวชาวไทยที่เดินทางมาท่องเที่ยวยัง วัดใหญ่ชัยมงคล จังหวัดพระนครศรีอยุธยา กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นนักท่องเที่ยวชาวไทยที่เดินทางมาท่องเที่ยวยัง วัดใหญ่ชัยมงคล จังหวัด พระนครศรีอยุธยา จำนวน 400 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยคือ แบบสอบถาม สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ การหาค่าร้อยละ (Percentage)การหาค่าเฉลี่ย (Mean) และการหาค่าเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน (Standard Division)
ผลการศึกษาพบว่า นักท่องเที่ยวชาวไทยที่เดินทางมาท่องเที่ยวยัง วัดใหญ่ชัยมงคล จังหวัดพระนครศรีอยุธยาส่วนใหญ่เป็นเพศหญิง จำนวน 271 คน มีอายุระหว่าง 15 – 25 ปี จำนวน 160 คน ส่วนใหญ่มีสภาพโสด จำนวน 280 คน ศึกษาอยู่ในระดับการศึกษาปริญญาตรี จำนวน 293 คน มีอาชีพนักเรียน/นักศึกษา จำนวน 135 คน ส่วนใหญ่มีรายได้เฉลี่ยต่อเดือนต่ำกว่าหรือเท่ากับ 5,000 บาท มีจำนวน 120 คน นักท่องเที่ยวมีแรงจูงใจต่อสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวในด้านสิ่งดึงดูดมากที่สุด ซึ่งประกอบด้วย ชื่อเสียงของแหล่งท่องเที่ยว เป็นแหล่งท่องเที่ยวทางศาสนา ประวัติศาสตร์และโบราณสถาน,ความสวยงามของสถานที่ท่องเที่ยว ด้านความน่าสนใจในเรื่องเอกลักษณ์วัฒนธรรมและประเพณี
