ไทยกับอินโดนีเซียได้ลงนามความตกลงทางการค้า (Trade Agreement) เมื่อวันที่ ๑๖ พฤศจิกายน ๒๕๕๔ และมีผลใช้บังคับเมื่อวันที่ ๓ สิงหาคม ๒๕๕๕ โดยความตกลงฯ ดังกล่าวจะช่วยส่งเสริมความร่วมมือด้านการค้าระหว่างไทยกับอินโดนีเซียผ่านคณะกรรมการร่วมทางการค้า (Joint Trade Committee : JTC) โดยมีรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงพาณิชย์ของไทย และรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการค้าของอินโดนีเซียเป็นประธานร่วม
ไทยกับอินโดนีเซียได้ลงนามข้อตกลงว่าด้วยการแก้ไขบันทึกความเข้าใจว่าด้วยการซื้อขายข้าวระหว่างรัฐบาลไทยกับรัฐบาลอินโดนีเซีย เมื่อวันที่ ๑๖ พฤศจิกายน ๒๕๕๔ ที่บาหลี โดยข้อตกลงฯ ดังกล่าว
เป็นการต่ออายุบันทึกความเข้าใจว่าด้วยการซื้อขายข้าวฉบับเก่าซึ่งหมดอายุไปเมื่อปี ๒๕๕๔ ซึ่งระบุว่ารัฐบาลไทยจะจำหน่ายข้าวขาวร้อยละ ๑๕ – ๒๕ ในปริมาณไม่เกิน ๑ ล้านตันต่อปี ระหว่างปี ๒๕๕๕ - ๒๕๕๙ ให้แก่รัฐบาลอินโดนีเซีย
การลงทุน
ในปี ๒๕๕๕ ไทยเป็นประเทศผู้ลงทุนอันดับที่ ๑๕ ในอินโดนีเซีย โดยมีมูลค่าการลงทุน ๖๘ ล้านดอลลาร์สหรัฐ (ประมาณ ๒ พันล้านบาท) ส่วนใหญ่เป็นการลงทุนด้านอุตสาหกรรมอาหาร อุตสาหกรรมรถยนต์ อุตสาหกรรมยางและพลาสติก พื้นที่ที่เข้าไปลงทุนส่วนใหญ่ ได้แก่ เกาะสุมาตราใต้และเกาะชวาตะวันตก โดยบริษัทไทยขนาดใหญ่ ๆ ที่เข้าไปลงทุน อาทิ เครือเจริญโภคภัณฑ์ เครือซิเมนต์ไทย บ้านปู ธนาคารกรุงเทพ ลานนาลิกไนต์ และบริษัท ปตท. จำกัด (มหาชน)
