ประชากร ในการวิจัยครั้งนี้คือ นักศึกษาชั้นปีที่ 1 ที่เรียนในมหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฎบุรีรัมย์ คณะมนุษยศาสตร์และสังคมศาสตร์ สาขาภาษาอังกฤษ จำนวน 200 คน
กลุ่มที่ตัวอย่าง ที่ใช้ในการวิจัยครั้งนี้ นักศึกษาชั้นปีที่ 1 ที่เรียนในมหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฎบุรีรัมย์ คณะมนุษยศาสตร์และสังคมศาสตร์ สาขาภาษาอังกฤษ จำนวน 200 คน คน แต่เนื่องจากมีเวลาจำกัด ผู้วิจัยจึงสุ่มตัวอย่างอย่างง่าย (Simple Random Sampling) มาจำนวน 100คน เป็นกลุ่มเป้าหมายคือ นักศึกษาชั้นปีที่ 1 ระดับปริญญาตรี นักศึกษาในหลักสูตรศิลปศาสตรบัณฑิต สาขาวิชาภาษาอังกฤษ ผู้วิจัยต้องการศึกษาถึงปัจจัยที่มีผลกระทบต่อการตัดสินใจเลือกเรียนสาขาภาษาอังกฤษ ของนักศึกษาชั้นปีที่ 1 สาขาภาษาอังกฤษ คณะมนุษยศาสตร์และสังคมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฎบุรีรัมย์
ดังนั้นกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการศึกษาในครั้งนี้คือ นักศึกษาชั้นปีที่ 1 ที่กำลังศึกษาอยู่ในระดับปริญญาตรี ภาคปกติ หลักสูตรศิลปศาสตรบัณฑิต สาขาวิชาภาษาอังกฤษ คณะมนุษย์ศาสตร์และสังคมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏบุรีรัมย์ โดยมุ่งเน้นศึกษาถึงปัจจัยที่มีอิทธิพลต่อการตัดสินใจเลือกเรียนสาขาภาษาอังกฤษที่ชัดเจนและมีเกณฑ์การประเมินผลรองรับอย่างถูกต้อง และอยู่ภายใต้ขอบเขตของการวิจัย
