Chitosan was hydrolyzed with 1N HCl

Chitosan was hydrolyzed with 1N HCl/isopropanol
mixture at 90 8C for different reaction durations, filtered,
neutralized with dilute sodium hydroxide, then washed with
distilled water till neutral. The viscosity average molecular
weights of hydrolyzed chitosan were shown as 1.5, 5, 30
and 50 kDa.
