การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาลักษณะทางกายภาพ พฤติกรรมการท่องเที่ยวของจังหวัดอุดรธานี เพื่อเสนอการพัฒนารูปแบบการท่องเที่ยวจังหวัดอุดรธานี โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์ 1.) เพื่อศึกษาลักษณะทางกายภาพ การท่องเที่ยว ศิลปวัฒนธรรมของพื้นที่บริเวณจังหวัดอุดรธานี 2.) ศึกษาพฤติกรรมการใช้พื้นที่บริเวณอุดรธานี 3.) เพื่อเสนอแนวการพัฒนารูปแบบการท่องเที่ยวจังหวัดโดยอุดรธานี เพื่อรองรับการก้าวเข้าสู่ประชาคมอาเซียน กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้วิจัยในครั้งนี้ คือ ประชาชนในพื้นที่ และ นักท่องเที่ยว โดยเป็นการวิจัยเชิงสำรวจ เครื่องมือที่ใช้ คือ แบบสำรวจ และแบบสอบถาม จากประชากรครัวเรือน และคัดเลือกกลุ่มตัวอย่างในพื้นที่ โดยทำการสำรวจภาคสนาม และนำมาวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเชิงอธิบาย และเชิงปริมาณ โดยใช้ค่าความถี่ร้อยละ
