ความเป็นมาของโครงการ :
- วันที่ 8 กรกฎาคม 2548 นายคมสัน จิตมั่น สมาชิกสภาองค์การบริหารส่วนจังหวัดลำปาง เขตอำเภอแม่ทะได้ร้องขอความอนุเคราะห์งบประมาณก่อสร้างอ่างเก็บน้ำแม่ยอนตอนบน ผ่านที่ปรึกษานายกรัฐมนตรี นายพินิจ จันทรสุรินทร์ เพื่อแก้ไขปัญหาภัยแล้งและบรรเทาอุทกภัยในเขตพื้นที่
- วันที่ 18 กุมภาพันธ์ 2552 นายกเทศมนตรีตำบลสิริราช ตำบลสันดอนแก้ อำเภอแม่ทะ ได้ขอพระราชทานโครงการก่อสร้างอ่างเก็บน้ำห้วยแม่ยอนตอนบน และทรงพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าฯรับไว้เป็นโครงการอันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริเมื่อวันที่ 6 พฤษภาคม 2254 ตามหนังสือที่ รล 0008.4/7251
- กรมชลประทานโดยสำนักงานก่อสร้าง 2 สำนักพัฒนาแหล่งน้ำขนาดกลาง จัดเข้าแผนงานก่อสร้างในปีงบประมาณ 2556

หมู่ 1 บ้านเส้นดอนแก้ว ต.สันดอนแก้ว อ.แม่ทะ จ.ลำปาง


วัตถุประสงค์ของโครงการ :
เพื่อเป็นแหล่งน้ำสำหรับทำการเกษตรทั้งในฤดูฝน และฤดูแล้งของราษฎรบ้านสันดอนแก้ว หมู่ที่ 1 จำนวน 175 ครัวเรือน ประชากร 611 คน และบ้านแม่วะ หมุ่ที่ 3 จำนวน 237 ครัวเรือน ประชากร 761 คน รวมทั้งสิ้น 412 ครัวเรือน ประชากร 1,372 คน

4.2 ฝายต้นนอต (ฝายคอนกรีต) พิกัด 47 QNV 518-879 ระวาง 4844 | พร้อมเหมืองส่งน้ำฝั่งขวา พื้นที่รับประโยชน์ประมาณ 150 ไร่ ก่อสร้างโดยราษฎรบ้านสันดอนแก้ว ปี 2547 สภาพปัจจุบันมีตะกอนทับถมอยู่เดิมหน้าฝาย เมื่อถึงฤดูการเพาะปลูกต้องช่วยกันขุดลอกเอาตะกอนออกเป็นประจำทุกปี
4.3 ฝายแพะป่าตึง (ฝายคอนกรีต) พิกัด 47 QNV 516-883 ระวาง 4844 | พร้อมเหมืองส่งน้ำฝั่งว้าย พื้นที่รับประโยชน์ประมาณ 200 ไร่ ก่อสร้างโดยราษฎรบ้านสันดอนแก้ว ปี 2548 สภาพปัจจุบันชำรุดเสียหายใช้การได้ไม่เต็มศักยภาพ มีปริมาณตะกอนตกทับถมอยู่เต็มหน้าฝาย บริเวณหูฝายทั้งสองข้างูกน้ำกัดเซาะเมื่อถึงฤดูการเพาะปลูกราษฎรต้องช่วยกันซ่อมแซมและขุดลอกเอาตะกอนออกเป็นประจำทุกปี
4.4. ฝายต้นข่อย (ฝายคอนกรีต) พิกัด 47 QNV 516-887 ระวาง 4844 | พร้อมเหมืองส่งน้ำฝั่งซ้าย พื้นที่รับประโยชน์ประมาณ 150 ไร่ก่อสร้างโดยราฎรบ้านสันดอนแก้วและราษฎรบ้านแม่วะ ปี 2547 สภาพปัจจุบันมีตะกอนทับถมอยู่เต็มหน้าฝาย
4.5 ฝายหนองบง (ฝายคอนกรีต) พิกัด 47 QNV 517-889 ระวาง 4844 | พร้อมเหมืองส่งน้ำฝั่งว้าย พื้นที่รับปรัโยชน์ประมาณ 250 ไร่ ก่อสร้างโดยราษฎรบ้านสันดอนแก้วและราษฎรบ้านแม่วะ ปี 2556 สภาพปัจจุบันใช้การได้ดี
4.6 ฝายหนองไผ่ (ฝายคอนกรีต) พิกัด 47 QNV 517-889 ระวาง 4844 | พร้อมเหมืองส่งน้ำฝั่งซ้าย พื้นที่รับประโยชน์ประมาณ 250 ไร่ ก่อสร้างโดยราษฎรบ้านสันดอนแก้วและราษฎรบ้านแม่วะ ปี 2541 สภาพปัจจุบันชำรุดทรุดโซมใช้งานไม่ได้เต็มศักยภาพ มีตะกอนทับถมอยู่เต็มหน้าฝาย
4.7 ฝายน้ำย้อย (ฝายคอนกรีต) ก่อสร้าง ปี 2555 พื้นที่รับประโยชน์ประมาณ 250 ไร่
4.8 ฝายทุ่งวังดิน (ฝายคอนกรีต) พิกัด 47 QNV 514-898 ระวาง 4844 | พร้อมเหมืองส่งน้ำฝั่งซ้าย พื้นที่รับประโยชน์ประมาณ 200 ไร่ ก่อสร้างโดยเทสบาลตำบลสิริราช ปี 2550 สภาพปัจุบันใช้การ
