งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อปรับปรุงการเลือกเส้นทางการขนส่งสินค้าประเภทเทกองของบริษัทกรณีศึกษา ซึ่งเป็นผู้ รับจ้างขนส่งสินค้าต่อเนื่องในหลายรูปแบบ (Multimodal transport operator) เพื่อน าเสนอรูปแบบการขนส่งที่มีต้นทุนรวม ต่ าที่สุด โดยมีเงื่อนไขที่มีบางเส้นทางไม่สามารถขนส่งผ่านได้ และในแต่ละเส้นทางมีขั้นตอนการขนส่งแตกต่างกัน การศึกษานี้ น าข้อมูลต้นทุนการขนส่งรวมในอดีตมาท าการวิเคราะห์และปรับปรุงวิธีการเลือกเส้นทางการขนส่งสินค้า เริ่มตั้งแต่การขนส่ง จากเรือบรรทุกสินค้าอยู่กลางอ่าวไทยจนถึงโรงงานของลูกค้า ปัญหาการขนส่งดังกล่าวมีลักษณะการขนส่งต่อเนื่องหลาย รูปแบบ (Multimodal transport) งานวิจัยนี้ได้น าวิธีโปรแกรมพลวัต (Dynamic programming) มาประยุกต์ใช้ในการเลือก เส้นทางการขนส่งที่ดีที่สุด จากผลการศึกษาพบว่า โปรแกรมพลวัตที่น าเสนอสามารถลดต้นทุนรวมในการขนส่งโดยเฉลี่ย 17% จากการเลือกเส้นทางการขนส่งแบบเดิม
