ไม่ว่าจะยุคสมัยไหน หรือผ่านไปกี่ปีก็ตามภาษาอังกฤษก็ยังคงมีความสำคัญ และมีความจำเป็นอย่างมากในการทำงาน แต่!! เด็กในประเทศไทยเรานั้นกลับไม่ค่อยมองเห็นความสำคัญของมันมากเท่าไรนัก

ทั้งๆ ที่ตอนนี้เรากำลังจะก้าวเข้าสู่ประชาคมอาเซียนแล้ว และได้มีกฎบัญญัติออกมาบังคับใช่อย่างชัดเจนว่า … “ให้ภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาทำงาน” ยิ่งทำให้ประเทศไทยเราต้องตื่นตัวและเตรียมตัวรับมือกับการแข่งขันที่สูงขึ้นนั่นเอง

น.ส.จุไรรัตน์ แสงบุญนำ รองปลัดกระทรวงศึกษาธิการ ได้กล่าวว่า นโยบายการเรียนการสอนรูปแบบใหม่ที่จะสอดรับการเข้าสู่ประชาคมอาเซียนนั้น นอกจากการเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการเรียนด้านภาษาอังกฤษแล้ว เรายังสอนเพิ่มเติมเกี่ยวกับภาษาเพื่อนบ้านด้วย

โดยหลักสูตรใหม่นี้จะพัฒนาวิธีการเรียนการสอนให้มีความทันสมัยขึ้น จะมีการติดตามผล ทำดัชนีชี้วัดและวางแผนให้เกิดประสิทธิผล อีกทั้งยังมีการร่วมประเมินผลกับนานาชาติ เพื่อทำให้การศึกษาของไทยมีประสิทธิภาพมากขึ้น

ทั้งนี้ ไม่ใช่แค่เพียงสายสามัญเท่านั้นที่ต้องปรับหลักสูตร แต่หมายรวมถึงสายอาชีพ(อาชีวศึกษา)ด้วย เพราะเหตุผลที่ว่าเด็กสายนี้เป็นกำลังหลักที่จะป้อนเข้าสู่ตลาดแรงงานทั้งในประเทศ และภูมิภาคนั่นเอง

สาเหตุที่ต้องเพิ่มความสามารถทางด้านภาษาให้กับสายอาชีพด้วยเพราะความสามารถในด้านวิชาชีพของเด็กในสายนี้อยู่ในระดับที่ยอดเยี่ยม ได้การยอมรับมาโดยตลอด แต่!! ที่ผ่านมาจะมีปัญหาทางด้านภาษาต่างประเทศซึ่งมีผลกระทบมายาวนานพอสมควร เนื่องจากการเรียนการสอนแบบเดิมมีการเรียนการสอนภาษาต่างประเทศน้อยเกินไป

อีกเรื่องหนึ่งก็คือเด็กของเราไม่ได้ให้ความใส่ใจใคร่รู้ ไม่มีความกระตือรือร้น ขวนขวายหาความรู้ ถึงแม้ว่าหน่วยงานภาครัฐ-เอกชนจะส่งเสริมแค่ไหนปัญหานี้ก็จะยังคงอยู่ดี

เวลาที่จะเข้าสู่ประชาคมอาเซียนก็กระชั้นชิดเข้ามาทุกที เราควรรีบเตรียมตัวทุกด้าน โดยเฉพาะเรื่องภาษา ให้พร้อมเพื่อที่จะสามารถแข่งขันกับต่างชาติได้อย่างทัดเทียมกันนะครับ
