ปัจจุบันธุรกิจมีการแข่งขันที่รุนแรงมากขึ้น องค์กรต่างๆต้องมุ่งเน้นเพื่อลดต้นทุนที่เกิดขึ้นในการดำเนินธุรกิจ กระบวนการผลิตถือเป็นหัวใจหลักในการผลิตสินค้าและบริการต่างๆออกมาเพื่อตอบสนองความต้องการของผู้บริโภค เพราะฉะนั้นความสูญเปล่าที่เกิดขึ้นในกระบวนการผลิตนั้นทำให้ตัวธุรกิจและองค์กรต่างๆต้องแบกรับต้นทุนที่นับวันจะสูงขึ้นทุกวัน
