ประวัติความเป็นมา
เมนคูน เกิดจากการผสมข้ามสายพันธุ์ระหว่างแมวบ้านกับแมวป่า ส่วนชื่อ Maine Coon นั้นก็ได้มาจาก แหล่งกำเนิดของเจ้าเหมียวอยู่ที่รัฐ Maine ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา ส่วนคำว่า Coon นั้นได้มาจากชาวบ้านท้องถิ่นในสมัยนั้นเชื่อกันว่าที่หางของเจ้าเหมียวเมนคูนเป็นพวงสวยงาม ก็เพราะแอบไปกุ๊กกิ๊กกับเจ้าแรคคูน จึงนำคำว่า coon จากแรคคูนมารวมกัน เป็นที่มาของชื่อ Maine Coon นั่นเองค่ะ

ลักษณะตามสายพันธุ์
