การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเพื่อศึกษาเปรียบเทียบมาตรฐานเว็บไซต์ห้องสมุดกับเว็บไซต์หอสมุดมหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ เพื่อศึกษาความพึงพอใจของผู้ใช้ที่มีต่อเว็บไซต์สำนักหอสมุด มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ และเพื่อทราบถึงความสอดคล้องของเว็บไซต์สำนักหอสมุดมหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่และนำไปสู่การพัฒนาของเว็บไซต์ในอนาคต เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการศึกษาคือแบบสอบถาม ซึ่งเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากผู้ใช้เว็บไซต์สำนักหอสมุด มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ จำนวน 100 ราย โดยใช้วิธีสุ่มจากกลุ่มประชากร ซึ่งเป็นนักศึกษาคณะมนุษยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ และนำข้อมูลมาวิเคราะห์โดยใช้สถิติ คือ ค่าเฉลี่ย ร้อยละ และ ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน
ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ด้านทรัพยากรสารสนเทศที่นำเสนอบนเว็บไซต์มีค่าเฉลี่ยความพึงพอใจมาเป็นอันดับแรก รองลงมาคือ ด้านความสวยงาม ด้านประโยชน์ในการนำไปใช้ ด้านเนื้อหาของเว็บไซต์ ด้านการเข้าถึงและความสะดวกในการใช้งาน และ ด้านองค์ประกอบของเว็บไซต์ ตามลำดับ
ผลการวิจัยด้านทรัพยากรสารสนเทศที่นำเสนอบนเว็บไซต์ ผู้ตอบแบบสอบถามได้ให้คะแนนความพึงพอใจอยู่ในระดับมาก โดยองค์ประกอบย่อยที่มีค่าความพึงพอใจสูงสุด 3 อันดับแรกคือ การระบุชื่อของสำนักหอสมุดไว้ในตำแหน่งที่เหมาะสมและชัดเจน การระบุที่อยู่และเวลาทำการของสำนักหอสมุดชัดเจน และ หัวข้อของสารสนเทศมีความชัดเจน ตามลำดับ
ผลการวิจัยด้านเนื้อหาของเว็บไซต์ ผู้ตอบแบบสอบถามได้ให้ความพึงพอใจอยู่ในระดับมาก โดยองค์ประกอบย่อยที่มีค่าความพึงพอใจสูงสุด 3 อันดับแรกคือ เนื้อหามีความถูกต้อง ชัดเจน การประชาสัมพันธ์ข่าวสารและกิจกรรมของสำนักหอสมุดมีความเป็นปัจจุบันและทันต่อเหตุการณ์ และเนื้อหาเข้าใจได้โดยง่าย ตามลำดับ องค์ประกอบย่อยที่ได้ระดับความพึงพอใจน้อยที่สุดในด้านนี้คือ หน้าแต่ละหน้ามีเนื้อหาเพียงพอต่อความต้องการของผู้ใช้
ผลการวิจัยด้านองค์ประกอบของเว็บไซต์ ผู้ตอบแบบสอบถามได้ให้ความพึงพอใจอยู่ในระดับมาก โดยองค์ประกอบย่อยที่มีค่าความพึงพอใจสูงสุด 3 อันดับแรกคือส่วนหัวของเว็บไซต์ (Banner) ส่วนงานบริการทุกงานบริการของห้องสมุดอย่างครบถ้วน และส่วนเชื่อมต่อ (Link) กับเว็บไซต์หรือหน่วยงานอื่น ตามลำดับ

ผลการวิจัยด้านการเข้าถึงและความสะดวกในการใช้งาน ผู้ตอบแบบสอบถามได้ให้ความพึงพอใจอยู่ในระดับมาก โดยองค์ประกอบย่อยที่มีค่าความพึงพอใจสูงสุด 3 อันดับแรกคือการสืบค้นข้อมูลในฐานข้อมูลต่างๆง่ายและสะดวก สิทธิ์ของกลุ่มบุคคลที่สามารถเข้าถึงทรัพยากรสารสนเทศได้ เช่น ฐานข้อมูลที่สำนักหอสมุดบอกรับ, การดาวน์โหลดวิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับเต็ม เป็นต้น และ การเข้าถึงข้อมูลและการดาวน์โหลดข้อมูลได้ง่ายและรวดเร็ว
ผลการวิจัย ด้านประโยชน์ในการนำไปใช้ ผู้ตอบแบบสอบถามได้ให้ความพึงพอใจอยู่ในระดับมาก โดยองค์ประกอบย่อยที่มีค่าความพึงพอใจสูงสุด 3 อันดับแรกคือ สามารถใช้บริการระบบสืบค้นทรัพยากรสารสนเทศของห้องสมุด (OPAC) และฐานข้อมูลต่างๆ ความรู้ทั่วไปเกี่ยวกับสำนักหอสมุด และสามารถใช้เป็นช่องทางในการติดต่อสื่อสารระหว่างบรรณารักษ์และผู้ใช้บริการ ตามลำดับ
ผลการวิจัยจากข้อเสนอแนะของผู้ตอบแบบสอบถาม โดยใช้คำถามปลายเปิด ผู้ตอบแบบสอบถามมีข้อเสนอแนะต่อเว็บไซต์สำนักหอสมุด คือมีความต้องการให้ปรับปรุงในเรื่องการสืบค้นทรัพยากร เนื่องจากผู้ใช้พบปัญหาในการใช้งานโดยมีการระบุว่า เว็บไซต์ของสำนักหอสมุด ขาดการประชาสัมพันธ์วิธีการใช้งานเว็บไซต์ ทำให้ผู้ใช้เกิดความลำบากในการค้นหาทรัพยากรต่างๆ เมนูสืบค้นทรัพยากรอยู่ในตำแหน่งที่สังเกตได้ยาก หรือไม่ชัดเจน รวมถึงไม่ทราบถึงความหมายของตัวย่อและสัญลักษณ์บางตัว นอกจากนี้ผู้ใช้ยังให้ข้อเสนอแนะในเรื่องของเนื้อหาที่เว็บไซต์ของสำนักหอสมุดนำเสนอว่ายังไม่เป็นปัจจุบันเท่าที่ควร
นอกจากนี้ผู้วิจัยได้ทำการสรุปผลการเปรียบเทียบมาตรฐานเว็บไซต์ห้องสมุดและ เว็บไซต์สำนักหอสมุด มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ ผลการวิจัยคือ เว็บไซต์ของสำนักหอสมุดมหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่มีออกแบบโครงสร้างของหน้าเว็บไซต์ ตามมาตรฐานของการออกแบบเว็บไซต์ห้องสมุด ได้มาตรฐานจำนวน 3 เรื่อง คือ มีการแบ่งข้อมูลที่จะเผยแพร่ออกเป็นเอกสารย่อยๆหรือหน้าย่อยๆเพื่อความสะดวกต่อผู้ใช้งาน มีการสร้างสารบัญในกรณีที่มีเอกสารจำนวนมากพร้อมกับมีปุ่มถัดไปและก่อนหน้า และ มีปุ่ม Home หรือ มีลิงค์จากหน้าแรก เพื่อป้องกันการหลงทางใน Hyperspace แต่เว็บไซต์ของสำนักหอสมุดยังขาดในเรื่องของการวางแผนผังของเอกสารย่อยและมีการเชื่อมโยงไปยังหน้าต่างอื่นๆแบบไม่ซับซ้อนและการจัดทำหน้าเว็บในรูปแบบที่เอื้อต่อการพิมพ์เพื่อนำไปใช้งาน
