สนช.หนุนเอกชนไทยผลิตสารสกัดที่มีคุณค่าจากยีสต์ ทำอาหารเสริม สารทดแทนผงชูรส ยาและเครื่องสำอาง รวมถึงอาหารเสริมภูมิคุ้มกันในสัตว์เศรษฐกิจ ทั้งไก่ สุกร กุ้ง และโคนม หวังทดแทนการนำเข้านับพันล้านบาทต่อปี และเตรียมขายส่งออกเพื่อสร้างมูลค่าทางเศรษฐกิจให้ประเทศ ขณะที่บริษัทต่างชาติแห่ให้ความสนใจเป็นผู้แทนจำหน่าย

สำนักงานนวัตกรรมแห่งชาติ (สนช.) สังกัดกระทรวงวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี (วท.) ร่วมกับบริษัท สเปเชียลตี้ ไบโอเทค จำกัด (Specialty Biotech Co;Ltd.) จัดงานแถลงข่าว "ความสำเร็จของนวัตกรรมยีสต์ นาโนไบโอเทคโนโลยีของประเทศไทย" ขึ้น ณ ศูนย์การแสดงสินค้าและการประชุมไบเทค บางนา โดยมี ดร.ประวิช รัตนเพียร รมว.วิทยาศาสตร์ฯ เป็นประธาน

รศ.ดร.พรรณวิภา กฤษฎาพงษ์ กรรมการผู้จัดการบริษัท สเปเชียลตี้ ไบโอเทค จำกัด กล่าวว่า ขณะนี้ ทางบริษัทได้ประสบความสำเร็จในการผลิตสารสกัดอนุภาคนาโนที่มีคุณค่าทางเศรษฐกิจจากยีสต์ได้หลากหลายชนิดด้วยกัน อาทิ สารเบต้า-กลูแคน (Beta -glucan) สารคอสโมแคน (Cosmocan) สารอินโนวาแคน (Innovacan) สารอูมาบิน (Umamin) สารนาโนมอส (Nanomos) สารนาโนซอร์บ (Nanosorb) สารนาโนโปรพลัส (Nanoproplus) และสารอิมมูโนส (Immunose) โดยสารเหล่านี้จะมีประโยชน์ในอุตสาหกรรมการผลิตอาหารเสริมและสารปรุงแต่รสชาติแทนผงชูรส ผลิตภัณฑ์ยาและเครื่องสำอาง รวมถึงการผลิตอาหารเสริมภูมิคุ้มกันทดแทนการใช้ยาปฏิชีวนะในสัตว์เศรษฐกิจ เช่น กุ้ง สุกร โคนม และไก่ ตามข้อกำหนดของสหภาพยุโรปและอเมริกา ซึ่งแต่เดิมที่ประเทศไทยต้องนำเข้าผลิตภัณฑ์ยีสต์เหล่านี้จากต่างประเทศทั้งหมดกว่า 1 พันล้านบาทต่อปี

ทั้งนี้ ทางบริษัท สเปเชียลตี้ ไบโอเทค จำกัด ได้จดทะเบียนบริษัทมาตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ.2546 มีเม็ดเงินลงทุนทั้งสิ้น 120 ล้านบาท พร้อมกันนี้ก็ได้รับการสนับสนุนด้านงบประมาณจาก สนช. ในโครงการ "นวัตกรรมดี...ไม่มีดอกเบี้ย" ด้วยวงเงินกู้ 20 ล้านบาท และได้รับการส่งเสริมจากสำนักงานคณะกรรมการส่งเสริมการลงทุน (บีโอไอ) เพื่อผลิตสินค้าโดยใช้นาโนไบโอเทคโนโลยีที่มีมาตรฐานระดับสากล มีความปลอดภัยต่อผู้บริโภค มีต้นทุนต่ำ ลดการพึ่งพิงต่างชาติ โดยกล่าวได้ว่าเป็นบริษัทด้านเทคโนโลยีชีวภาพที่ใช้ประโยชน์จากสารสกัดจากยีสต์เป็นแห่งแรกของประเทศไทย ซึ่งนอกจากจะเป็นการผลิตเพื่อใช้งานภายในประเทศแล้ว ยังมีแผนที่จะส่งออกสารสกัดที่ได้ไปยังประเทศในราวต้นปีหน้าเพื่อสร้างรายได้ให้กับประเทศต่อไปด้วย

สำหรับยีสต์ที่ใช้ คือยีสต์แซคคาโรมัยซิส ซีรีวิซิยี (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) ที่ซื้อมาจากบริษัทผลิตเบียร์รายใหญ่แห่งหนึ่งของประเทศ ทว่าก็มีแผนการผลิตยีสต์ใช้เองในอนาคตด้วย โดยการวิจัยพัฒนานี้ได้ใช้ผลการวิจัยจากคณาจารย์ในสถาบันการศึกษาหลายแห่ง คือ มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย มหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยแม่ฟ้าหลวง มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล และจาก สนช. ทำให้สามารถภาคภูมิใจในความสำเร็จครั้งนี้ได้ว่าเกิดจากศักยภาพของคนไทยทั้งหมด โดยเมื่อนำยีสต์มาสกัดให้ได้สารสกัดต่างๆ แล้วจะทำให้เกิดมูลค่าเพิ่มกว่า 50-60 เท่า

ส่วนการนำสารสกัดที่ได้ไปใช้ในการผลิตสินค้า ปัจจุบันได้นำออกจำหน่ายในรูปของเครื่องสำอางแล้ว คือสารคอสโมแคน ซึ่งมีคุณสมบัติในการชะลอความเหี่ยวย่นและเพิ่มความชุ่มชื่นแก่ผิวหน้า โดยบริษัท สเปเชียลตี้ เนทเชอรัล โปรดักซ์ จำกัด (Specialty Natural Products Co;Ltd.) ในเครือของบริษัท สเปเชียลตี้ ไบโอเทค จำกัด ขณะเดียวกันก็กำลังจะส่งขายในรูปของอาหารเสริมภูมิคุ้มกันในสัตว์เพื่อป้องกันสารพิษจากเชื้อรา ดักจับแบคทีเรีย และกระตุ้นภูมิคุ้มกันในสัตว์ ได้แก่ สารนาโนซอร์บ สารนาโนมอส สารอิมมูโนส และสารนาโนโปรพลัส ให้แก่บริษัท ดีทแฮล์ม ประเทศไทย จำกัด (DKSH Thailand Ltd.) เป็นผู้แทนจำหน่าย
