ประวัติความเป็นมา

             สถานสงเคราะห์เด็กอ่อนปากเกร็ด จังหวัดนนทบุรี เป็นหน่วยงานในสังกัดกรมกิจการเด็กและเยาวชน (ดย.) กระทรวงการพัฒนาสังคมและความมั่นคงของมนุษย์ (พม.)  ก่อตั้งขึ้นเมื่อวันที่  9 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2506ให้การอุปการะเด็กทั้งหญิงและชาย อายุตั้งแต่แรกเกิดถึง 7 ปี จากสาเหตุการถูกทอดทิ้ง   หลังคลอด ทิ้งตามที่สาธารณะ ทิ้งกับผู้รับจ้างเลี้ยง บิดามารดาต้องโทษ หรือมีอาการเจ็บป่วยทางจิต เด็กที่กำพร้าบิดาหรือมารดา ครอบครัวอยู่ในภาวะยากลำบาก บุตรของผู้รับการสงเคราะห์ รวมทั้งเด็กที่ได้รับการเลี้ยงดูที่ไม่เหมาะสม ผู้ที่นำเด็กส่งเข้ารับการอุปการะ อาจเป็นหน่วยงานภาครัฐ องค์กรเอกชน หรือบิดา มารดา ผู้ปกครองมาติดต่อด้วยตนเอง โดยสถานสงเคราะห์เด็กอ่อนปากเกร็ดจะดำเนินการตามภารกิจ ในการคุ้มครองเด็กตาม พระราชบัญญัติคุ้มครองเด็ก พุทธศักราช 2546 และพระราชบัญญัติคุ้มครองผู้ถูกกระทำด้วยความรุนแรงในครอบครัว พุทธศักราช 2550
