การศึกษาในครั้งนี้ได้ทำการศึกษาความต้องการความรู้ ความคาดหวัง ความพร้อมของกลุ่มทางด้านวิทยาศาสตร์เทคโนโลยีและนวัตกรรมของสมาชิกกลุ่มแม่บ้านเกษตรกรจำนวน 100 คน ในพื้นที่ บ้านป่าไผ่ หมู่ที่ 2 ตำบลแม่โป่ง อำเภอดอยสะเก็ด จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ ซึ่งทำการเก็บข้อมูลเดือนสิงหาคม 2558 – เดือนสิงหาคม 2559 เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ แบบสัมภาษณ์ ซึ่งประกอบด้วยคำถามปลายเปิดและปิด โดยใช้ค่าร้อยละ และค่าเฉลี่ยในการบรรยาย การกำหนดค่าความคาดหวังเป็น 5 ระดับโดยใช้ Likert’s Scale ซึ่งผลการวิจัยพบว่า ผู้ตอบแบบสอบถามทั้งหมดเป็นเพศหญิง ส่วนใหญ่มีอายุ 31 - 40 ปี มีสถานภาพสมรสแล้ว ระดับการศึกษาอยู่ในระดับมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลาย มีสมาชิกในครอบครัว 3-4 คน มีรายได้เฉลี่ยต่อเดือน 15,001 - 20,000 บาท มีอาชีพเกษตรกร ด้านการถ่ายทอดความรู้ด้านวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีจากหน่วยงานต่างๆ ผู้ตอบแบบสอบถามส่วนใหญ่เคยได้รับการถ่ายทอดความรู้จากวิทยากรที่เป็นคนในพื้นที่ โดยวิธีการรับความรู้ที่ต้องการคือ ใช้หลายวิธีผสมกัน (การบรรยาย/การสอน การสาธิต ปฏิบัติให้ดู และการฝึกทดลองและให้ปฏิบัติจริง) และความรู้ที่ต้องการคือ ด้านการบวนการผลิต/เครื่องจักร และผู้ตอบแบบสอบถามมีความคาดหวังต่อการนำประโยชน์ทางด้านวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีไปใช้ประโยชน์ด้านสังคมมากที่สุด คือ ด้านช่วยส่งเสริมภูมิปัญญาชาวบ้าน และชุมชนมีความพร้อมของทรัพยากร และวัตถุดิบในท้องถิ่นที่จำเป็นสำหรับการนำเทคโนโลยีไปใช้ในชุมชนมากที่สุด
