นางสาวเบญจวรรณ อ่านเปรื่อง ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดตราด กล่าวว่า ตามที่กระทรวงเกษตรและสหกรณ์ได้จัดทำโครงการเฉลิมพระเกียรติปลูกไม้ผลยืนต้นครัวเรือนละต้น เนื่องในโอกาสสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ สยามบรมราชกุมารี ทรงมีพระชนมายุครบ 60 พรรษา วันที่ 2 เมษายน 2558 โดยมีเป้าหมายให้ส่วนราชการ สถาบัน องค์กร มูลนิธิต่าง ๆ ตลอดจนเกษตรกร และประชาชนผู้สนใจทั่วไป เข้าร่วมโครงการด้วยการปลูกไม้ผลยืนต้นจำนวนไม่น้อยกว่า 6 ล้านต้น เพื่อถวายแด่สมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ สยามบรมราชกุมารี เนื่องในโอกาสมหามงคล

ทั้งยังเป็นการส่งเสริมให้เกษตรกร และประชาชนทั่วไป ปลูกไม้ผลยืนต้นสำหรับไว้บริโภคภายในครัวเรือนเพื่อลดค่าใช้จ่าย เป็นการเพิ่มพื้นที่สีเขียวในชุมชน ซึ่งเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการช่วยลดภาวะโลกร้อน จังหวัดตราดได้สนับสนุนโครงการนี้จึงได้ตั้งคณะอนุกรรมการขับเคลื่อนการดำเนินโครงการขึ้น เพื่อรณรงค์เผยแพร่ ประชาสัมพันธ์ให้บุคลากรภาครัฐ รวมทั้งประชาชนร่วมกันปลูกไม้ผลยืนต้น พร้อมทั้งลงทะเบียนเพื่อบันทึกผลการปลูกไม้ผลยืนต้นผ่านทางเว็บไซต์ www.growforprincess.in.th หรือ ทางแอพพลิเคชั่น We grow จังหวัดตราดจึงขอเชิญชวนบุคลากรภาครัฐ องค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่น และประชาชนผู้สนใจเข้าร่วมโครงการดังกล่าว
