2.1. Fish culture component
Hybrid catfish fingerlings with an initial mean weight of
6.58±1.72 g were stocked at a density of 35 fishm−2 in an earthen
pond, 226m2 in size with a water depth of 1.3 m. Commercial
pelleted feed (Charoen Pokaphan Co. Ltd, Bangkok, Thailand) containing
34% protein, 5.4% lipid, 3.9% fiber, 10.8% ash and 18.1 kJ g−1
gross energy was used in this study. Fish were fed at 0830 and
1530 h daily at a rate of 10, 8, 5, and 3% body weight (BW) per
day for fish weighing < 20 g, 20–50 g, 51–100 g, and > 100 g, respectively.
Small-size pellets (No. 9910; 3mm in diameter) were used
for the first 2 months and large-size pellets (No. 9912; 6mm in
diameter) were used for the rest of the experimental duration. The
