เทศบาลนครสงขลา กำหนดจัดงานประเพณีลอยกระทง ประจำปี 2556 เพื่อส่งเสริม และอนุรักษ์วัฒนธรรมประเพณีอันดีงามของไทย ร่วมลอยกระทง ในวันอาทิตย์ ที่ 17 พฤศจิกายน 2556 ตั้งแต่เวลา 18.00 น. เป็นต้นไป ณ บริเวณสระบัว แหลมสมิหลา เทศบาลเมืองสงขลา อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดสงขลา ภายในงานมีกิจกรรมการแสดงดนตรี การแสดงบนเวทีของนักเรียน เยาวชน ในการนี้เทศบาลนครสงขลา จึงขอความร่วมมือพี่น้องประชาชน ใช้วัสดุพื้นบ้านหรือตามธรรมชาติ ที่ย่อยสลายง่าย แทนการใช้โฟม ที่ทำให้เกิดมลภาวะเป็นพิษ และขอความร่วมมือให้จุดประทัด หรือพลุ ในสถานที่เหมาะสม หรือที่จัดเตรียมไว้ เทศบาลนครสงขลาจึงขอเชิญชวนพี่น้องประชาชนชาวจังหวัดสงขลา และบริเวณใกล้เคียงร่วมลอยกระทง ในวันและเวลาดังกล่าว ภายในงานมีกิจกรรมต่างๆ อาทิ การประกวดนางนพมาศ และหนูน้อยนพมาศ การออกร้านจำหน่ายอาหาร และสินค้าพื้นเมือง การแสดงดนตรีของนักร้อง นักแสดงได้แก่ ฝน ธนสุนทร, หลิว อาจารียา เป็นต้น
