ประวัติ

วัดโลกยสุธาราม สันนิษฐานว่าได้สร้างขึ้นในสมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยาตอนกลาง เนื่องจากวัดนี้มีพระพุทธไสยาสน์ ปางไสยาสน์ลักษณะสมัยอยุธยาตอนกลาง ก่ออิฐถือปูน พระพักตร์หันไปทางทิศเหนือ ที่พระเศียรมีดอกบัวรองรับ พระบาทซ้อนกันเป็นมุมฉาก นิ้วพระบาทยาวเท่ากัน มีความยาว ๔๒ เมตร และสูง ๘ เมตร

พระพุทธไสยาสน์องค์นี้ได้รับการขุดแต่งโดยโรงงานสุรา ร่วมกับกรมศิลปากร เมื่อปี พ.ศ. ๒๔๙๗ และต่อมาในปี พ.ศ. ๒๕๓๒ คุณหญิงระเบียบ ธำรงนาวาสวัสดิ์ และครอบครัว ได้บูรณะพระพุทธไสยาสน์เพื่ออุทิศส่วนกุศลให้แก่ นาย ธำรง และ พลเรือตรีถวัลย์ ธำรงนาวาสวัสดิ์ อดีตนายกรัฐมนตรี
