เขตเทศบาลตำบลบางเสาธง มีพื้นที่ทั้งหมด 9.6 ตร.กม. ประกอบด้วยตำบลบางเสาธงและตำบลศีรษะจรเข้ใหญ่ นอกจากนี้อาจแบ่งพื้นที่ในลักษณะของโครงการซึ่งมีหน่วยงานรับผิดชอบดูแล และการให้ที่ดิน ดังนี้ - โครงการเมืองใหม่บางพลีวาระที่ 1 ในความรับผิดชอบของเทศบาลตำบลบางเสาธง ส่วนโครงการฯวาระที่ 2 และ 3 อยู่ในความรับผิดชอบของการเคหะแห่งชาติ รวมพื้นที่โครงการทั้งหมด 7.15 ตร.กม. คิดเป็นร้อยละ 74.47 ของพื้นที่เทศบาล - เขตนิคมอุตสาหกรรมบางพลีในความรับผิดชอบของการนิคมอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย พื้นที่ 1.6 ตร.กม. หรือคิดเป็นร้อยละ 16.66 ของพื้นที่เทศบาล - เขตชุมชนเดิม พื้นที่ 0.85 หรือคิดเป็นร้อยละ 8.87 ของพื้นที่เทศบาล
