๑.๑) เล่าเรื่องหรือเล่านิทานให้เด็กฟัง
แม่หรือพ่อจะขับร้องเพลงกล่อมโดยเรื่องเอาเพลงที่มีเนื้อหาเป็นนิทานหรือเรื่องราวต่างๆ ให้เด็กฟัง เพื่อให้เด็กเกิดความเพลิดเพลิน หากเป็นเด็กโตขึ้นมา เด็กก็สามารถเข้าใจเรื่องราวนั้น อาจจะสนุกสนานกับเนื้อเรื่อง อารมณ์ดี จนกระทั่งหลับสนิท ดังเช่นเนื้อหาเพลงกล่อมลุกของชาวกะเหรี่ยง มีชื่อว่า “จะเปยงิว” แปลว่า คนขี้เกียจ เป็นเรื่องราวเกี่ยวกับคนขี้เกียจ คนหนึ่งซึ่งอาศัยอยู่กับยาย อยู่มาวันหนึ่งได้สานรอดจับปลา เมื่อสานเสร็จแล้วก็เอาไปดักบนต้นไม้ซึ่งรอดนั้นก็ไปดักได้ลิงตัวหนึ่งจึงจับลิงนั้นมาให้ยาย ยายบอกให้ฆ่าเสียให้ตาย เมื่อลิงรู้ว่าจะถูกฆ่าเลยหยิบแคนมาเป่า ส่วนนกยูงรำแพนที่อยู่ในบ้านก็มาร้องรำทำเพลงกัน พร้อมทั้งร้องเพลงมีเนื้อหาว่า “หลานถึงแม้จะทำอะไรผิด ก็ยังเป็นหลานอยู่ ดังนั้น หากหลานทำที่นอนให้ยาย ยายก็ต้องนอน”
