ระบบการศึกษาในระดับประถมศึกษาที่สิงคโปร์นั้นจะแบ่งการสอนออกเป็น 2 ช่วง คือ เช้า และบ่าย การรับสมัครนักเรียนใหม่จะขึ้นอยู่กับนโยบายของแต่ละโรงเรียน ระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 1 – 4 (fouryear foundation stage) จะเน้นการเรียนในวิชาภาษาอังกฤษ, ภาษาจีน (แมนดาริน) หรือภาษาทมิฬ, คณิตศาสตร์ และวิชาอื่น ๆ เช่น ศิลปะ ดนตรี พลศึกษา ในการเรียนในชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 5 -6 (Two-year orientation stage) นักเรียนจะถูกแบ่งออกเป็น 3ระดับ จากผลการสอบของ ประถมศึกษาปีที่ 4 คือ EM1 EM2 EM3 โดยลักษณะการเรียนของวิชาภาษาอังกฤษ และภาษาแม่นั้นจะต่างกันนักเรียนจะต้องสอบวัดระดับเมื่อจบ ประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 ที่เรียกกันว่า Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE).เพื่อวัดระดับว่านักเรียนจะต้องเรียนในชั้นมัธยมเป็นระยะเวลา 4 ปี หรือ 5 ปี

การศึกษาในระดับมัธยมศึกษา (Secondary School)

โรงเรียนมัธยมศึกษาในสิงคโปร์จะแบ่งออกเป็น 2 ระบบและจะมีหลักสูตรแตกต่างกันไปทั้งนี้ นักเรียนจะถูกเลือกให้อยู่ระบบใดระบบหนึ่งนั้นขึ้นอยู่กับผลการสอบ PSLE ของนักเรียนแต่ละคน ระบบที่ใช้ระยะเวลา 4 ปี จะเรียกว่า Special and Express Courses ซึ้งการเรียนการสอนนั้นจะเน้นการเตรียมตัวให้นักเรียนสอบ The Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education “Ordinary” (GCE ‘O’) ตอนจบมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 4 และ ระบบที่ใช้ระยะเวลา 5 ปี คือ Normal Course แบ่งการเรียนการสอนเป็น Academic และ Technical และเมื่อนักเรียนจบมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 4 นักเรียนจะต้องสอบ Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education “Normal”(GCE ‘N’)
