รติกร (2543) ศึกษาเรื่อง ความรู้และการปฏิบัติในการใช้สารเคมีเพื่อการผลิตทางการเกษตร ของเกษตรกรในอำเภอห้างฉัตร จังหวัดลำปาง ผลจากการศึกษาพบว่า เกษตรกรทุกครัวเรือนใช้ยาฆ่าโรคพืช และได้รับข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับการใช้ยาปราบศัตรูพืชจากร้านจำหน่ายสารเคมีหรือร้านสหกรณ์การเกษตร ความรู้และการปฏิบัติในการใช้สารเคมีเพื่อการผลิตทางการเกษตรไม่พบตัวแปรที่มีความสัมพันธ์ทางสถิติกับความรู้และการปฏิบัติในการใช้สารเคมีเพื่อการผลิตทางการเกษตรของเกษตรกร
ปัญหาและอุปสรรคของเกษตรกรในการใช้สารเคมีป้องกันกำจัดศัตรูพืช พบว่า มีปัญหาเรื่องสารเคมีมีราคาแพง ปัญหาเรื่องโรคและแมลงศัตรูพืชดื้อสารเคมี ปัญหาเรื่องสวมใส่ชุดป้องกันอันตราย จึงสมควรที่จะฝึกอบรมเกี่ยวกับการใช้สารเคมีอย่างถูกต้องและปลอดภัยแก่เกษตรกร ข้อเสนอแนะในการวิจัยคือ หน่วยงานของรัฐและเอกชนที่เกี่ยวข้องควรมีการจัดฝึกอบรม เพื่อถ่ายทอดความรู้เกี่ยวกับการใช้สารเคมีป้องกันกำจัดศัตรูพืชอย่างถูกต้องและปลอดภัยให้แก่กลุ่มเกษตรกรและร้านจำหน่ายสารเคมีหรือร้านสหกรณ์การเกษตร
