โครงการวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อหาจุดรับซื้อน้ำยางพาราที่เหมาะสมในพื้นที่จังหวัดสกลนครในปัจจุบันเกษตรกรชาวสวนยางพาราได้ประสบปัญหาในการขนส่งยางพาราไปจำหน่ายที่มีระยะทางไกลและเสียค่าใช้จ่ายในการขนส่งสูง เนื่องจากในพื้นที่จังหวัดสกลนครยังไม่มีจุดรับซื้อน้ำยางพารา จากการศึกษาพบว่าเกษตรกรมีค่าใช้จ่ายในการขนส่งอยู่ที่ 20,884.04 บาท ดังนั้นผู้วิจัยจึงต้องหาจุดรับซื้อน้ำยางพาราที่เหมาะสมในพื้นที่จังหวัดสกลนคร เพื่อลดระยะทางและค่าใช้จ่ายของเกษตรกรชาวสวนยางพาราโดยผู้วิจัยได้ประยุกต์ใช้วิธีการจัดกลุ่ม (K-mean Clustering Method) เพื่อการจัดกลุ่ม และใช้วิธีการหาจุดศูนย์ถ่วง (Center of Gravity Method) เพื่อคำนวณหาจุดรับซื้อน้ำยางพารา จึงได้จุดรับซื้อน้ำยางพาราในพื้นที่จังหวัดสกลนคร เท่ากับ 14 จุดโดยแต่ละจุดครอบคลุมพื้นที่ภายในรัศมี 15 กิโลเมตร คิดเป็น 94.7 เปอร์เช็นต์ ของพื้นที่ปลูกยางพาราทั้งหมดในพื้นที่จังหวัดสกลนคร
โดยเกษตรกรจะมีค่าใช้จ่ายในการขนส่งยางพาราเหลือเพียง 2,420.32 บาท จากค่าใช้จ่ายเดิมและช่วยประหยัดค่าใช้จ่ายในการขนส่งได้ 18,463.72 บาทคิดเป็น 88.4 เปอร์เช็นต์ ของค่าใช้จ่ายเดิม
