ชายทะเลปากพนัง และ แหลมตะลุมพุก เป็นสถานที่ซึ่งอยู่บริเวณตอนบนของอำเภอปากพนัง ด้านที่ติดกับทะเลด้านใน (อ่าวนครฯ) มีประชากรตั้งถิ่นฐานอยู่ ส่วนด้านนอกที่ติดกับอ่าวไทย เป็นหาดทรายและมีต้นสนขึ้นเป็นแนวยาว เป็นสถานที่เกิดเหตุการณ์มหาวาตภัยครั้งใหญ่จากพายุโซนร้อน "แฮร์เรียต" (Harriet) พัดถล่มแหลมตะลุมพุก เมื่อวันที่ 25 ตุลาคม 2505 ลักษณะของชายหาดปากพนังเป็นชายหาดยาวไปตามชายฝั่งทะเล มีแหลมตะลุมพุกเป็นแหลมทรายรูปจันทร์เสี้ยวยื่นไปในอ่าวไทย สามารถขับรถไปจนถึงปลายแหลมได้ระยะทางประมาณ 6 กิโลเมตร นอกจากนี้ ยังมีร้านอาหารทะเลบริการในบริเวณใกล้เคียงอีกด้วย
