“ความสามัคคีนำไปสู่ความเจริญ
ความสงบสุขร่มเย็นของสังคม
ความขัดแย้งแตกแยกในหมู่ชาวพุทธ
นำไปสู่ความเสื่อม”
 
๑. มูลเหตุหลักของความแตกแยกมุ่งโจมตีกัน มาจากเรื่อง คำสอน
คำสอนในพระพุทธศาสนา แบ่งได้ 3 ระดับ คือ
๑.๑ คำสอนเพื่อประโยชน์ชาตินี้ เช่น ให้มีน้ำใจต่อกัน รักษาศีล ละเว้นอบายมุข
คำสอนในระดับแรกนี้ โดยภาพรวมชาวพุทธทุกกลุ่ม สอนสอดคล้องกัน

คำสอนในระดับที่ ๒ นี้ ส่วนใหญ่สอนตรงกัน มีบ้างที่สอนต่าง เช่น ท่านพุทธทาสปฏิเสธนรกสวรรค์ที่เป็นภพภูมิ
๑.๓ คำสอนเพื่อประโยชน์อย่างยิ่ง คือ การปฏิบัติเพื่อมุ่งสู่ความหลุดพ้น
คำสอนในระดับที่ ๓ นี้ เนื่องจากเป็นเรื่องละเอียด เป็นเรื่องที่รู้ได้เฉพาะตน ชาวพุทธกลุ่มต่าง ๆ จึงมีหลักปฏิบัติที่หลากหลาย อาทิ สายพุทโธ สายสัมมาอะระหัง สายพองหนอยุบหนอ สายมโนมยิทธิ

เพราะตราบใดยังมีพระไตรปิฎกอยู่ เราก็ยังมีแม่แบบให้อ้างอิงศึกษาไปชั่วกาลนาน ไม่มีใครที่จะทำให้คนอื่นเชื่อตามไปได้ทั้งหมด ไม่ว่าผู้นั้นจะมีอิทธิพลมากเพียงใด

 จะชอบพุทธแบบสังคมสงเคราะห์
 จะชอบพุทธเชิงศิลปวัฒนธรรม
