งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาผลของการใช้การจัดการเรียนรู้แบบการสืบเสาะเป็นกลุ่ม เพื่อพัฒนาการเรียนรู้คณิตศาสตร์ของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 2 โดยมีกลุ่มเป้าหมายคือนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 2 โรงเรียนสาธิตมหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ ภาคเรียนที่ 2 ปีการศึกษา 2558 จำนวน 43 คน โดยมีเครื่องมือในการทำการวิจัย ได้แก่ แผนการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนการสอนที่เน้นการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบ GI เรื่องเส้นขนาน, แบบประเมินพฤติกรรมการทำงานกลุ่ม, แบบทดสอบก่อนเรียนและหลังเรียนเรื่องเส้นขนาน และแบบบันทึกการเรียนรู้ของนักเรียน
ผลวิจัยในด้านการสืบค้นความรู้ของนักเรียน พบว่า นักเรียนจะเลือกสืบค้นข้อมูลจากหนังสือเรียนและจากอินเทอร์เน็ตมากที่สุด และนักเรียนสามารถวิเคราะห์เลือกแหล่งข้อมูลที่เชื่อถือได้ ผลการวิจัยในด้านการทำงานเป็นกลุ่ม พบว่า นักเรียนแต่ละกลุ่มมีการกำหนดบทบาทหน้าที่สมาชิกไว้ชัดเจน สมาชิกในกลุ่มมีส่วนร่วมในการปฏิบัติงานกลุ่ม ทำงานตามหน้าที่ที่ได้รับมอบหมาย ร่วมแสดงความคิดเห็นและยอมรับฟังความคิดเห็นผู้อื่นอย่างมีเหตุผลและสร้างสรรค์ ร่วมกันแก้ไขโจทย์ปัญหาจนได้ข้อสรุปที่ถูกต้องสมบูรณ์ ผลการวิจัยในด้านความเข้าใจในเนื้อหา พบว่า นักเรียนสามารถอธิบายความรู้ที่ตนได้รับจากการสืบค้นความรู้ในเรื่องเส้นขนานให้เพื่อนกลุ่มอื่นให้เข้าใจโดยใช้ภาษาที่เข้าใจง่ายพร้อมยกตัวอย่างประกอบได้อย่างชัดเจนถูกต้อง และใช้ศัพท์ทางคณิตศาสตร์ในส่วนของเนื้อหาที่เป็นทฤษฎีบทได้อย่างถูกต้อง ตลอดจนสามารถนำความรู้ไปปรับใช้ในการแก้ไขโจทย์ปัญหาต่าง ๆ เกี่ยวกับเส้นขนานได้อย่างถูกต้อง นักเรียนร้อยละ 97.67 มีคะแนนผ่านเกณฑ์การประเมินร้อยละ 50 ของคะแนนเต็มในเรื่องเส้นขนาน
