งานเทศกาลไหมเป็นงานที่จังหวัดขอนแก่นได้จัดขึ้นทุกปี เริ่มตั้งแต่ พ.ศ. ๒๕๒๒ จนถึงปัจจุบันโดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อส่งเสริมอาชีพการทอผ้าไหม มีหน่วยงานทั้งภาครัฐและเอกชนร่วมออกร้านแสดงผลิตภัณฑ์และจำหน่ายสินค้าพื้นเมือง (ผ้าไหม) และของที่ระลึกอื่น ๆ นอกจากนี้ยังมีการแสดงเพื่อฟื้นฟูและส่งเสริมศิลปวัฒนธรรมท้องถิ่น
ประเพณีผูกเสี่ยว ก็เป็นประเพณีสำคัญที่จัดขึ้นพร้อมกันกับงานเทศกาลไหม โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อให้คนในท้องถิ่นและคนในชาติมีความรักใคร่กลมเกลียว สมัครสมานสามัคคีและช่วยเหลือเกื้อกูลกันคำว่า "เสี่ยว" เป็นภาษาถิ่นอีสาน แปลว่า มิตรแท้ เพื่อนแท้ เพื่อนตาย มีความผูกพัน ซื่อสัตย์ และจริงใจต่อกัน
