การประดิษฐาน
เดิมทีนั้นหลวงพ่อพระใสได้ประดิษฐาน ณ เมืองเวียงจันทน์ พ.ศ. ๒๓๒๑ สมัยกรุงธนบุรีได้อัญเชิญไปไว้ที่เมืองเวียงคำ และถูกเชิญมาประดิษฐานไว้ที่วัดโพนชัย เมืองเวียงจันทน์อีก ต่อมาในรัชกาลที่ ๓ เจ้าอนุวงศ์ เมืองเวียงจันทน์เป็นกบฎ สมเด็จพระบวรราชเจ้ามหาศักดิ์พลเสพย์ เป็นจอมทัพยกพลมาปราบ จึงได้อัญเชิญพระสุก พระเสริม และพระใส ลงมาด้วย โดยอัญเชิญมาจากภูเขาควายขึ้นประดิษฐานบนแพไม้ไผ่ ซึ่งผูกติดกันอย่างมั่นคงล่องมาตามลำน้ำงึม เมื่อล่องมาถึงตรงบ้านเวินแท่นในขณะนั้น เกิดอัศจรรย์แท่นของพระสุกได้เกิดแหกแพจมลงไปในน้ำ โดยเหตุที่มีพายุพัดแรงจัด และบริเวณนั้นได้นามว่า "เวินแท่น"
